Artificial Intelligence (Ai)

The concept of Artificial Intelligence is like the one that we had seen in several sci-fi movies. By definition, Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that is dedicated to building machines that can imitate the intelligence of a human mind. AI works by a simple model of error and correction, we first input data known as training data into the machine, it then analyzes it and forms algorithms based on the patterns detected in the training data which then makes future predictions and decisions based on those algorithms. When given a task the machine will use the error and correction method to form different models until it provides the most accurate result of the given task. When talking about the heights of Artificial intelligence, Machine learning and Data mining can be called the base pillars it grew on. We can thank machine learning for this immense growth of AI in the last decade.

Business: with the help of AI, algorithms can be used to analyze and monitor the traffic on your website and then determine the best way to serve your customers.

Healthcare: Softwares are developed where the patient’s previous records are stored and tracked when needed, virtual health assistants and chatbots

Education: it can form personalized tests based on student’s learning records and grade them as well, it can help students access data from a variety of sources instead of sticking to 1 or 2 books

Banking & Finance: Banks are using chatbots on their websites, it can identify a potential investment opportunity, helps in decision making for loans via accessing the track record of the client, software that helps in stock trading, private companies even build their personal finance applications.

Manufacturing: with industrial robots, the sector had seen extra ordinary growth. these robots coordinate with humans and reduce the workload and thus help in maintaining time efficiency.

Security: with analyzing the data and using logic, AI can help detect and prevent any suspicious activity or cyber-attacks which reduces the risk of cyber threats.

Transportation: the leading trend in AI is the development of autonomous vehicles, drones are developed for delivery purposes, flights can be tracked and delays can be predicted with the help of data analysis. With this kind of advancement in several sectors, the future of AI is quite dazzling and dangerous at the same time. In all likelihood superintelligence is not just a myth anymore, the state where computer intelligence would possess intelligence far surpassing that of the greatest known human mind. Cyborgs are another possibility, famous robot designers and inventors have predicted that humans and machines will merge in the future creating cyborgs that are way more powerful and smarter than those in their individual state. All these are still far-fetched but what about the near future? what will be AI’s impact on the near future? With several research and surveys, it has been foretold that unemployment will be a major issue in the upcoming decade, it doesn’t mean our jobs will be taken over by the army of robots but many tasks that were once done manually by human hands have been automated and this change has also given significant results, it is time-efficient, precise and the error percentage is equal to none. Humans have produced an excess understanding of human health, if all that data is fed to AI it can outperform even the smartest of the doctor. In the future, AI might help with sports training as well, not just by suggesting different defense positioning and strategies but also by analyzing the game of every single player and thus helping them in improving their techniques in a customized way. Ai can also be used in political analysis, beyond the victory and losses of any political party the implications of ai lies in decision and policy making with help of advanced level machine learning. There are several more ways where AI will continue to be a friend than a foe.Famous entrepreneur Elon Musk says “The least scary future that I can think of is one where we have at least democratized AI because if one company or a small group of people manages to develop godlike digital superintelligence, they can take over the world. At least when there is an evil dictator, that human is going to die but for an AI there would be no death, it would live forever and then you’d have an immortal dictator from which we can never escape.” Technology and Politics are two distant departments but with this rapid growth in technology, we will need rules to keep it in a controlled environment where it can flourish in a regulated manner. Several countries including the European Union have published a proposal for rules on AI, which includes banning certain uses of AI, heavily regulating high-risk uses, and lightly regulating less risky AI systems. Good or Bad, it will evolve. The best way for us is to be aware of and adapt to it.
